I'm thinking this was the result of the variation between the numbers in Beersmith II and the GF recommended calcs.Ĭan any of you give any guidance or highlight any experiences you've had in smoothing the numbers between Beersmith and GF? My recipe is in Beersmith II - despite this I followed the calcs that the Grainfather people say you must always follow with the GF for Mash/Spargewater calcs.Īnyway I ended up with almost 22lt in the FV with an OG of 1.075. I'm guessing I would need about 25.5 litres in the FV to get that happening allowing for trub loss. it's now sitting in the fermenting fridge happily at 18 degrees. A Golden Promise/Touch of Medium Crystal/Mosaic IPAĪll went pretty well aside from a slow sparge. Despite my wife's nagging about the time commitment I kicked out my second brew yesterday. It is why I let my Beersmith subscription lapse.Hi all. I am pretty happy with Brewfather so far. I have only done one brew using Brewfather to control the Grainfather and it was pretty similar to the Grainfather app. But Brewfather has recently introduced a beta feature that talks to the Grainfather controller.

I think it was my water additions, because they were in the wrong units for the Grainfather app. I use the Grainfather app to control brew day. I did export some recipes from Brewfather (BeerXML files I think), to import into the Grainfather app. I did not import anything from Beersmith into Brewfather. Probably because it is all "in the cloud". I am pretty sure that if I add some ingredient, it is available across all my devices. With Brewfather, it doesn't matter what device you use, it's all there? What about importing things from Beersmith? Does one need a degree in quantum physics to ex- and more importantly, import recipes and things? I don't mind Beersmith but there are a few things that just annoy me because they shouldn't be annoying. I guess with Brewfather, it doesn't matter what device you use, it's all there? My recipes are synchronised across the "cloud" but my profiles, styles, ingredients etc aren't. I use it across 3 computers and when I add a profile, some adjuncts or grains it didn't know about, I have to export it on one computer, then import it to the others and that isn't half as easy as it sounds either. I still use BeerSmith but I am a little annoyed.

Plus the multi-platform usability in one subscription fee. By comparison, I already have 20 recipes in Brewfather and I have had it for about 3 months. My subscription finished yesterday and I just let it lapse. I had Beersmith for two years, but did not use it much. One of the great things is that you can use it seamlessly across all these platforms. It is web-based, and there are also aps for iPhone and Android.
